jimmy buffett falls off stage
On the last night of his Australian tour, Jimmy Buffett fell off stage during his Sydney show, the Daily Telegraph reports. The 64-year-old singer was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney after he crashed into a large gap in front of the stage during the show's finale at Hordern Pavilion. An audience member in the front row said it appeared Buffett was unconscious for about 5-10 minutes and that he had a huge gash on his head. Paramedics arrived about 15 minutes later. Jimmy underwent tests and a CAT scan and doctors said he is "doing well."

alan jackson looking for new label
Alan Jackson and his record label, Sony Music Nashville, are splitting. His manager says the country music superstar is in negotiations with 3 record labels to find a new home.
The label announced the split in a short statement 20 January 2011 and the country singer confirmed it with a statement of his own a little later. The partnership started in 1989 when Jackson was the first artist signed to Arista Nashville, now a Sony imprint, and has yielded dozens of No. 1 hits and tens of millions in album sales.
"I've had a great run with Arista, going all the way back to the beginning of my career when I signed with Tim DuBois," Jackson said in a statement released by his management company, the co-op. "I've gotten to work with some real great people along the way and we accomplished a lot. It just seems to me like the time may be right to change things up a bit and see what comes next."
Jackson's manger, Nancy Russell, told The Associated Press that Jackson could be close to closing a new record deal and said "there's three options that look really good." She said Jackson suspended the relationship in September 2010, but agreed to work with the label on a greatest hits compilation released last fall.
"We're actually excited about it," said Russell. "I'm a little sentimental about endings but it's always fun to go with fresh starts."
The 52-year-old singer has made an indelible mark on country music, helping to launch a return to the traditional sound of the genre at a time when it had changed in the 1990s. The two-time Country Music Association entertainer of the year has had 35 No. 1 hits, including "As She's Walking Away," his recent collaboration with the Zac Brown Band.
The statement from Sony thanked Jackson for "their long association and many hit records achieved as a result of that association." The release called it "an amicable parting." Spokesman Chris Melancon says Sony has no further comment.

former employee sues billy ray cyrus
The 61-year-old former road manager of country entertainer Billy Ray Cyrus is suing him and his estranged wife, Tish, for more than a half-million dollars, claiming they fired him because of his age.
According to the lawsuit, filed late Monday in Davidson County Circuit Court, Cyrus told his half-brother that Paul A. Abraham was "old and dumb and don't know anything about running a farm."
When not on tour, Abraham worked primarily in Tennessee at the farm known as "Singin' Hills," where he cut the grass, made repairs and did chores as needed, said Charles J. Friddell, Abraham's Nashville-based lawyer.
Abraham was hired in September 2007 as Billy Ray Cyrus' road/stage manager, but he had worked for Cyrus on and off for the past 12 years, Friddell said.
His responsibilities included the management of all tour, travel, show and family arrangements. He also managed 14 to 17 members of his band, the lawsuit states.
According to the lawsuit, the Cyruses fired Abraham on 1 May 2010. Abraham has about 20 years experience in the music industry.
Abraham is seeking about $500,000, Friddell said.
He also is asking a jury to assess compensatory and punitive damages for his "pain, humiliation, embarrassment and emotional distress."
Nicole Chabot, Cyrus' Los Angeles-based publicist, declined to comment Tuesday 11 January 2011.
