billy ray withdraws divorce papers

Billy Ray Cyrus is trying to save his marriage.
He withdrew his divorce filing last Friday in Williamson County Court in Tennessee. His attorney and the judge signed an order withdrawing the divorce papers. It says he and his wife of 17 years, Tish, are attempting to reconcile.
Cyrus told ABC's "The View" that for the first time in a long time his entire family is communicating with each other, and that things are really the best they've ever been.
He released a joint statement with Tish in October announcing the split.

former employee sues billy ray cyrus

The 61-year-old former road manager of country entertainer Billy Ray Cyrus is suing him and his estranged wife, Tish, for more than a half-million dollars, claiming they fired him because of his age.
According to the lawsuit, filed late Monday in Davidson County Circuit Court, Cyrus told his half-brother that Paul A. Abraham was "old and dumb and don't know anything about running a farm."
When not on tour, Abraham worked primarily in Tennessee at the farm known as "Singin' Hills," where he cut the grass, made repairs and did chores as needed, said Charles J. Friddell, Abraham's Nashville-based lawyer.
Abraham was hired in September 2007 as Billy Ray Cyrus' road/stage manager, but he had worked for Cyrus on and off for the past 12 years, Friddell said.
His responsibilities included the management of all tour, travel, show and family arrangements. He also managed 14 to 17 members of his band, the lawsuit states.
According to the lawsuit, the Cyruses fired Abraham on 1 May 2010. Abraham has about 20 years experience in the music industry.
Abraham is seeking about $500,000, Friddell said.
He also is asking a jury to assess compensatory and punitive damages for his "pain, humiliation, embarrassment and emotional distress."
Nicole Chabot, Cyrus' Los Angeles-based publicist, declined to comment Tuesday 11 January 2011.

billy ray cyrus comments on miley's bong smoking

On Friday 10 December 2010, footage of Miley Cyrus smoking from a bong appeared online. In the clip, Cyrus laughs and talks to an unidentified woman who is filming the teen star. The bong was reportedly filled with salvia, a psychoactive herb that is legal in California.

On Friday afternoon, Cyrus' father, Billy Ray, took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the video. "Sorry guys. I had no idea," he wrote. "Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I'm so sad. There is much beyond my control right now."

The video was reportedly filmed in Cyrus' L.A.-area home on 28 November 2010, just days after she turned 18. "Having a little bit of a bad trip," she laughs in the video, moments after taking a hit from the bong. Cyrus then looks off in the distance and asks, "Is that Liam [Hemsworth]'s lookalike, or what the hell is that? Is that my boyfriend?"

She then spends the next 90 seconds laughing uncontrollably while someone behind the camera asks her to "tell us your thoughts, girl, tell us what's on your mind!"

Legal experts weighed in, noting that Cyrus is not breaking the law in the video since she was of age and allegedly smoked the substance in a state where salvia is legal. "The video might be embarrassing to her, but it does not put her in any legal risk," Keith Stroup, legal counsel at the marijuana advocacy group NORML. "At the moment, salvia is not illegal in California, so even if she walked out on the street and smoked it in front of police, she couldn't be arrested. And the video of her smoking isn't enough to get her in trouble, because there's no proof she wasn't smoking tobacco."

"Salvia is a drug of concern," said Michael Sanders, a spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Agency. "We are taking steps to look further into it."

Billy Ray Cyrus and wife Tish are ending their 17-year marriage
The papers were filed this week in Williamson County and cite irreconcilable differences as the grounds.

Though 17-year-old Miley is the biggest star in the family now, it was Billy Ray Cyrus, 49, who put the Cyrus name on the map in 1992 with the instant classic "Achy Breaky Heart."

Cyrus married Leticia "Tish" Finley that year. They had three children together and are parents to three children from their previous relationships.
