is hunter hayes the next big thing?

Will Hunter Hayes be the next big thing? The 19-year-old won CMT's Next Big Thing TV show contest.

CMT will air the premiere of Hunter's new video, Storm Warning. The song, written by Hunter, Gordie Sampson and busbee, is the debut single from his forthcoming album set for release later this year. The single is available now at all digital retailers. Hunter wrote or co-wrote every song on the album, played every instrument and co-produced with Dann Huff.

Hayes will join Taylor Swift for select dates on her Speak Now World Tour 2011 beginning July 28.

Hayes, the Louisiana raised multi-instrumentalist (acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, electric guitar, mandolin and keyyboard), performed Jambalaya with Hank Williams Jr. in front of 265,000 people at the age of 4 (now tracking more than 15 million YouTube views), has played with Johnny and June Cash and Charlie Daniels and has co-written songs recorded by Rascal Flatts and Montgomery Gentry.

charlie gives a horse

Country music legend Charlie Daniels has made a different kind of contribution to a memorial fund honoring fallen soldiers: a horse.
The gelding was raised on Daniels' Twin Pines Ranch. The horse will be auctioned off  9 April 2011 by the organization Let Us Never Forget. Proceeds will fund a scholarship remembering fallen soldier Billy Spencer, who was killed in Iraq in 2006 while trying to rescue his injured commander. Spencer grew up in Paris, Tenn., and was 19 when he died.

aaron lewis of staind - solo tour

Aaron Lewis has announced plans for an acoustic tour, kicking off October 7th in Boston.  Lewis is expected to preview tracks from his solo debut album he finished earlier this year while on the tour.  Full tour dates are listed below.
Lewis told Billboard in July that the album did not yet have a release date, but would be released by Atlantic Records.
"It's acoustic guitar based," Lewis said of the solo record, "and I recorded it in Nashville with a bunch of country session musicians. So it's kind of somewhere between country and James Taylor and 'It's Been Awhile.'"  Adding to the album's country theme, Hank Williams Jr., George Jones and Charlie Daniels will be featured on the album's first single, titled "Country Boy."
Following the tour, Lewis is expected to reunite with the members of Staind to begin work on the band's follow up to The Illusion of Progress.
