Zooey Deshanel to Portray Loretta Lynn on Broadway

Loretta Lynn announced from the stage of the Ryman Auditorium that she chose Zooey Deschanel to portray her in the upcoming Broadway adaptation of 'Coal Miner's Daughter.'
Following the announcement, Zooey joined Loretta on stage to sing Coal Miner's Daughter.
The onstage announcement was like that of the 1979 appearance where Lynn announced that she had chosen the actress Sissy Spacek to portray her in the Coal Miner's Daughter film.  Sissy went on to win an Academy Award for her performance.
"Loretta Lynn and her music have been inspirations for me for as long as I can remember.   She is a true legend and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true." said Zooey.

Loretta explains it best. "They need to fix it, so I had to cancel and reschedule some of my up coming shows," she posted on her website. "It ain't no big deal!! They say I will be in and out of the
hospital in a couple hours! But I won't be walking so good for a couple weeks! Y'all make sure to go on my web site and see when we have the shows for March . . . rebooked. I love all of you and thank you again."
