axl rose - suing video game maker

http://thefastertimes.com/famehype/files/2009/12/axl.jpg

Guns N’ Roses lead singer Axl Rose is suing video game maker Activision Blizzard Inc. for $20 million over the company’s use of the song "Welcome to the Jungle" in the game "Guitar Hero III."
In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, the singer rails against Activision executives for guaranteeing the song would not be used alongside anything to do with estranged former band mate Slash — and then putting the guitar player’s likeness in the game anyway.
The latest installment in the "Guitar Hero" franchise includes an animated character with Slash’s distinctive top hat, dark glasses and curly black locks.
The lawsuit says that Rose has been trying to distance Guns N’ Roses from Slash since he left the band in 1996.
"Activision was keenly aware of Rose’s concerns in these regards" and "began spinning a web of lies and deception to conceal its true intentions," the suit claims.

"It's hard enough to get one out of the box," he told reporters before the party. "To have two is a dream come true."
At the celebration, Easton acknowledged the song's three co-writers, BMI writer David Lee along with Tony Lane and Johnny Park. "Thank you for giving me the honor of cutting this," Easton told them.

jason aldean - my kinda party

http://cdn2.ioffer.com/img/item/108/484/447/xMmA68HED07ZgU4.jpg

Jason Aldean's fourth studio CD, 'My Kinda Party,' sold 193,000 in its first week, making it the highest album debut of last week and the biggest first week debut by a male vocalist in more than three years. Kenny Chesney set the previous high mark in September 2007 with 'Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates.'
"I can't say enough about my fans and this incredible ride we are all taking together. Don't count out the kids who live out in the sticks, drive pickup trucks, wear John Deere hats and like their country music on the rockin' side," said Aldean.
"There are a whole lot of us," said Aldean. "It's always exciting to put out new music and see what the reaction will be. It's been a killer week."

red hot chili peppers new cd

Red Hot Chili Peppers will put out a new album in 2011! Appearing on the Kevin and Bean radio show to promote their new book, the band revealed that they hope to unveil the still untitled followup to 2006’s Stadium Arcadium in the “beginning of summer 2011.” As for what we can expect to hear upon its release, frontman Anthony Kiedis said “the big difference, writing wise, for this album is Flea got his piano playing together, and so instead of him coming in with really cool ideas for the bass guitar, he’d come in with really cool ideas for the piano.” Kiedis also credited the influence of new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, noting, “Josh has never really had a band he was part of… he came in with sort of a lifetime of music… a real reservoir of chords and ideas… and now he has a place for it.”
As previously reported, the Chili Peppers plan to support the release with a series of festival dates next summer.

darryl worley - opens cancer treatment center

http://a.espncdn.com/winnercomm/outdoors/bassmaster/iii/b_classic_worley_250x333.jpg

Darryl Worley's dream of opening a cancer treatment center in his hometown of Savannah, Tennessee, has been realized. On  3 Nov. 2010, Darryl and area dignitaries formally opened the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center.

Since 2004, Darryl and a team working to raise funds and build the center, which now provides radiation and
chemotherapy for patients who would normally have to travel 60 miles one way to the nearest treatment facility in Jackson, Tennessee.

Proceeds from Darryl’s annual Tennessee River Run event were used help with the debt-free construction of the building, which cost an estimated $2 million. “I’ve watched the progress that’s been made in
cancer research, and we’re starting this at a good time," Darryl said at the grand opening. "We’re going to be people who get to help save lives—not just prolong lives or make them comfortable—we’re going to save lives right here at this cancer treatment center, I guarantee this.”

Darryl lost both of his grandfathers to cancer.  After thanking several of the leaders who helped raise funds and build the center, Darryl told those in attendance, “This is one of the coolest moments of my life. I’ve watched so many people who have worked so hard. God bless y’all.”

eric church - in nyc

The final Country Music Association Songwriters Series of 2010 at New York City’s Joe’s Pub went out not with a bang, but in a puff of smoke, thanks to Eric Church and his resilient single “Smoke a Little Smoke.”
The singer, sporting a knit hat pulled down to his eyes, wrapped up his intimate acoustic set with his unconventional ode to recreational puffing, a song a woman seated near the front of the stage laughingly said she “can’t play in front of her kids.”
“Now that’s an endorsement,” quipped host Bob DiPiero, before Eric lit into the rebellious anthem—which has kept the almost two-year-old album Carolina hovering in the Top 20 on the Billboard album chart. Still, Eric isn’t resting on his laurels. He spent the last few months in a North Carolina cabin writing his next album.
2 Nov 2010, however, the evening belonged to his past hits, including “Hell on the Heart” and “Sinners like Me".

Trace Adkins expresses his heartfelt gratitude to troops during a nine-day USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour to the Middle East. This is the third USO tour for Adkins.
Just two days into his week-long USO tour, Adkins has played for more than 6,000 troops stationed overseas.

Adkins' tour will officially wrap up in the U.S. with a welcome home USO concert for soldiers and their families stationed at Fort Benning, GA. The concert is free and open to all military ID holders.

"Traveling on USO tours and visiting our nation's troops has been awe-inspiring and even overwhelming at times," says Adkins. "Whether I'm walking around a post shaking hands and signing autographs or performing for troops, I am always aware I am in the presence of heroes, and the courage and determination that those men and women show is humbling. It's an honor to get to do that and I will always jump at the chance to do it for years to come."
