Darryl Worley's dream of opening a cancer treatment center in his hometown of Savannah, Tennessee, has been realized. On  3 Nov. 2010, Darryl and area dignitaries formally opened the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center.

Since 2004, Darryl and a team working to raise funds and build the center, which now provides radiation and
chemotherapy for patients who would normally have to travel 60 miles one way to the nearest treatment facility in Jackson, Tennessee.

Proceeds from Darryl’s annual Tennessee River Run event were used help with the debt-free construction of the building, which cost an estimated $2 million. “I’ve watched the progress that’s been made in
cancer research, and we’re starting this at a good time," Darryl said at the grand opening. "We’re going to be people who get to help save lives—not just prolong lives or make them comfortable—we’re going to save lives right here at this cancer treatment center, I guarantee this.”

Darryl lost both of his grandfathers to cancer.  After thanking several of the leaders who helped raise funds and build the center, Darryl told those in attendance, “This is one of the coolest moments of my life. I’ve watched so many people who have worked so hard. God bless y’all.”
